+ You Move Us +
Genesis 50:18-21 > Then Joseph’s brothers came and threw themselves down before him. “Look, we are your slaves!” they said. But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you? You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He moved me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them.
The LORD moves us. The earth is his footstool, and all the days ordained for us have already been written in his Book of Life before one of them came to be. He is moving his people for his sovereign purposes. He alone sees his future plans and why we need to move so that he can display his greater glory through our unpredictable life journey. Yahweh is good and faithful, his love is steadfast and unfailing. We are not slaves; we are sons and daughters.
Exodus 13:21-22 > The LORD went ahead of Israel. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. And the LORD did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people.
Our Heavenly Father moves before us. He is moving around the world by His Spirit, observing the nations, examining hearts, singing His love over the earth, searching for desperation among all peoples; a hunger and thirst for his freedom. He shows us his glory when we ask; He opens the door when we seek with all our hearts and invites us to his wedding feast. From sunrise to sunset and through the watches of the night, he moves us. He will never leave us or forsake us; we are called and anointed to depend completely upon Him step by step.
Psalm 145:8-14 > The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. All your works praise you, LORD; your faithful people worship you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all peoples may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. The LORD holds up all who fall and lifts up all who are suffering.
We are made to worship. Our souls were crafted with Yahweh’s image; cultivated by the Creator’s touch. If he touched our lives in the womb, how much more will he touch our lives as his awakened children. Yahweh wants his sons and daughters to see and know him. His kingdom is beautiful and majestic, perfect and ablaze with holy glory. Our plans change, our path is unpredictable, and our faith sometimes falls; but his kingdom is everlasting from generation to generation and beyond the horizon of this age into eternity.
Matthew 28:17-20 > When they saw Jesus, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore move and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
He’s moving our faith deeper into his heart so he can reveal his greater glory through our lives. He moved from heaven to earth as Messiah to heal and deliver his people. He moved mountains into the sea and then moved upon the waters shining at night with Holy Spirit fire. As we move, we invite others to move with us so we can move together. Revivals are just moving disciples multiplying movements by the anointing, power, and coordination of the Holy Spirit. And as we move, he moves with us, for he is Immanuel; his Spirit sealed in us.
Hebrews 11:13-16 > All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of they country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country – a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
We are all moving to the same destination: a city our heavenly Father is preparing for us. Many who move with God do not get to see with their own eyes the harvest and inheritance they pray and labor and live for. We are sojourners here; passing from eternity to eternity with our eyes fixed on the Author and Perfecter of our faith, throwing off everything that easily ensnares us like pilgrims progressing step by step, day by day towards a distant home. He moves our minds to meditate upon whatever is glorious and true. We are people of truth; the truth of his kingdom. As we move, he is our peace for the journey to receive our daily bread.

Heavenly Father, we praise and worship you. How your glory has moved us! How can we describe what has happened in our hearts? We were lost, torn apart by sin, shipwrecks in bondage, slaves in the dragon’s lair. Where was hope when you found us? While we were lost and wandering and rebelling in the darkness we love, you left it all to come to us and say, “Here I am. Believe.” Thank you Father for liberating your sons and daughters from bondage to communion. Thank you for rescuing us and shining in the darkness and giving us your heart. Thank you for moving in our hearts and resurrecting our souls from the grave.
Father, you are moving us. To be in your kingdom is to move with your Holy Spirit. Thank you for the joy we have in this journey you have prepared for us. Thank you for gently moving us out of our comfort zones and calling us forth beyond the shore into the waves. Thank you for inviting us out of the boat to walk on the water with you. Thank you for leading us through the wilderness into your kingdom by cloud and fire. Thank you for awakening our minds to your moving mercy and grace, an abundant life available to all who lay down their crowns at your feet. Thank you for dreams, visions, and revelation about where to go and what to do.
Please, Father, move our eyes from this age to your face. Quiet our minds by your Spirit and move us to green pastures and beside quiet waters as you restore our souls. Please, Father, anoint our heads with oil; commission us to move wherever you want to take us so that our lives can be planted in soils that need healthy, fruitful trees. Let us be the people of peace we are searching for among the nations. Let your people move the gospel from our homes and church buildings to the streets and soccer fields and marketplaces and homes of all unreached and unengaged peoples until there’s No Place Left and our King returns.
- How have you moved me in the past?
- Where are you moving me and my family/team today?
- Please, Father, give me dreams and visions about where you will be moving us.
- Please, Father, move however you need to in my heart and family and team to prepare us for wherever you will be moving us in the unforeseen days ahead.
