Beloved children, my paths are rivers. I am your Path and I am your River. You must learn to trust me, because I love you. I know you, I made you, and I know the plans that I have for you. You are mine; I bought you and paid for you when you were a prisoner in darkness blind to your own bondage. I have set you free and I have adopted you to eat at my table and wear my righteous robes and fill the world with my glory and sing a new song in all the earth so that every nation will see me and join us at our table.
My paths are rivers. Do you see? Do you see your journey is like a river? A river doesn’t decide where it wants to go. I bring the rain and the waters from heaven fall to the earth as single drops, and then they gather together and begin to flow through the land as streams to rivers to waterfalls to seas and oceans and back into the sky as mist and vapor. Do you see my plan? You must not try to figure out my plan, you must learn to trust me and abide in my heart. My plans are good and my destiny for you is beautiful and worthy of my glory. I know where I am taking you for my perfect purposes.
My paths are rivers. Flow with me, and journey in me. Don’t strive to make me happy and don’t be anxious or afraid. I love you and because of my love, I sent my Son to rescue you. You are free through his blood shed on the cross for your sins. All you need to do is believe. My gospel is not correct information. My gospel is my Son; he is surrendered to me. He is perfect and he is good. And because he is faithful, I have raised him above all things to fill and rule all things by the Holy Spirit. And you are filled with us. Surrender to me and find your treasure and joy alone in me. I am yours.
Isaiah 62:10-12 > Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations. The LORD has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your Savior comes! See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.’” They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the LORD; and you will be called “Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted.” (NIV)
Psalm 24:1-8 > The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. They will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in. Who is this King of Glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. (NIV)
Genesis 2:5-10 > Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground – trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. (NIV)
Exodus 14:19-22 > Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. (NIV)
John 3:31-36 > He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else. He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! Anyone who accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true. For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands. And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment. (NLT)
Yes, Lord, we receive you, and we rest in you afresh today. Your love is new wineskins and fresh wine. Your glory is our treasure, and your plans are our hope. Your presence is our home, and your salvation is our life. Thank you for loving us and sending Jesus to rescue us. For we are like rebels who have run far away to hide. We have hidden from you and desired the darkness, and without you we would never see the light.
Yet, Father, you have shined your light into our darkness. You left your throne and came to our prisons and unlocked the doors with your kingdom keys and reached into our bondage and took us by the hand and delivered us into your home, into your life.
We love you, Father, Son, and Spirit and together we flow with you. Wherever you want us to go, whatever you want us to do, whomever you lead us to speak, we are yours. You are our Refuge and Strength. You are our Safe Place and Living Water. You are our Resurrection Life and Faithful Companion. You are our Eternal Home and Consuming Fire. Thank you for your destiny path rivers. Thank you for revealing your heart, and we rest in your mercy and grace, abundant as the ocean waters in Jesus’ name, amen.
